Founded in Roubaix in 1990 by Gur Semsettin, GUR Kebab is a family-run business that has established itself as a key player in the fast-food sector with its authentic, tasty kebabs. Today, taken over by the founder's three sons - Umit, Cuneyit and Mesut Gur - the brand perpetuates its values of sharing and conviviality in each of its restaurants. With 11 outlets in France and Belgium, including 7 with drive-through facilities, GUR Kebab offers a unique experience, particularly in its Villeneuve d'Ascq restaurant, the largest kebab in Europe, covering more than 1,000 m². The chain, which attracts customers from Valenciennes to Lille Gare, remains the place to go for a kebab, a galette or a kebab plate, with generous portions and fresh, high-quality ingredients.

"The solution is so simple and so practical that it allows us to do more things we wouldn't have done before."

Operations Manager at GUR Kebab

To support its rapid growth and ambition to expand into new cities, GUR Kebab has chosen to equip itself with an expert multi-site management tool. Ozan Gur, Operations Manager at GUR Kebab, explains.

Optimize supplies and reduce losses

A pioneer in the kebab drive-thru market, GUR Kebab is using Inpulse to streamline its supply processes and optimize its recipes to limit losses. The main challenges faced by GUR Kebab relate to accurate inventory tracking, due to the high volumes handled by the chain. Before Inpulse, it was difficult to know the exact levels of the main references. The brand also stands out for its positioning, offering quality products at affordable prices.

"We had a lot of stock-outs, internal theft and losses, but we couldn't put a precise figure on it," says Ozan.

The initial objective is to precisely quantify these losses, both in terms of volume and value, whether they concern unused ingredients or finished products after processing. Thanks to Inpulse's order recommendations, the company aims to avoid situations of overstocking or understocking, reducing the risk of stock-outs or excessive accumulation of certain products.

"At headquarters, we have better control, we avoid delays in orders, delays in deliveries..."

An intuitive and effective tool for managers

One of the company's challenges is to constantly simplify the work of its employees, and in particular that of its managers.

"To place orders, the Inpulse solution is the simplest. We group everything together in one place, rather than making phone calls here and there."

Before the introduction of Inpulse, ordering was based solely on the experience of managers. They relied on remaining stocks and estimated daily or weekly requirements.

"Before Inpulse, our managers placed imprecise orders".

One of the main advantages for GUR Kebab is Inpulse's API integration with several existing tools, such as POS system, HR management software and the HACCP system. These connections have now become a prerequisite for the chain, enabling it to centralize data and avoid multiple entries.

GUR Kebab has introduced more processes for its managers, with greater order accuracy. Inpulse saves time compared with entirely manual management. Today, managers carry out inventories more frequently and place more precise orders. The solution's simplicity and practicality also enable GUR Kebab to carry out operations that it would not have been able to consider before, such as weekly or even daily inventories.

"The solution is so practical and simple that it allows us to do more things we wouldn't have done before."

Expanding the network while preserving family expertise

GUR Kebab aims to open more and more restaurants. Currently concentrated in the north of France, the brand aims to gradually expand into Paris and other major cities. The brand favors prime locations, with large spaces and drive-through services, although it remains open to city-center locations in major cities.

For the time being, all new openings are planned to be directly operated, although franchising is envisaged in the medium term. Kebab is a product that requires special know-how, which is difficult to industrialize. With 30 years of expertise, GUR Kebab possesses unique know-how, but passing it on remains a challenge.

"Before Inpulse, we had trouble keeping track of our stock in real time, which caused shortages and losses that we struggled to quantify. This was a real brake on the chain's development."
